Back in the early 2000’s, shoujo manga fan Kelp discovered a band with the extravagant aesthetics of her favorite characters. Shortly thereafter, she found out one of those bandmembers was involved with an alternative fashion magazine that she could add to her monthly deliveries of imported Japanese publications.
Years later, she ended up writing both her masters thesis and doctoral dissertation on alternative Japanese fashion magazines.
She’s currently a member of J-fashion event group Bay Area Kei, and streams puzzle games and what not over on Twitch.
This blog serves as a home for various pursuits:

- Cross-stitch and other handicraft dabblings
- Kelp’s weird fixation on (gelatin-based) retro desserts
- Video games, in particular nonogram puzzles and JRPGs
- Radio show retrospectives from her days as a freeform DJ
